Orange County June 1st Estimates Show Strong Growth

On June 2nd, Rick Singh, the Orange County Property Appraiser released his offices’ June 1st Estimates of Taxable Value throughout the County. According to his press release, Orange County has a total 2020 Market Value that “now tops $220.1 Billion”; an increase of 5.6% over 2019. The release goes on to indicate that Orange County overall, showed responsible growth and a strong real estate market during 2019; the time period in which the data for the 1/1/2020 valuation date was obtained. It is also noted that the 2020 June 1st Estimates represent a doubling in the Market Value of Orange County property since Singh took office nearly 8 years ago.

According to Mr. Singh, there was nearly $4.7 Billion in new construction added to the tax roll for 2020, an increase of 4.4% over 2019. Although each of the 13 Orange County municipalities showed year-over-year growth, only Oakland experienced double digit growth (15%).  Oakland was followed by Belle Isle, Ocoee and Bay Lake increasing 9.1%, 8.9% and 8.7% respectively.

On July 1st, Orange County will submit their final tax roll for certification by the Florida Department of Revenue. Once the certification is complete, the 2020 TRIM Notices will be sent out to the property owners in mid-August with the appeal deadline to follow in mid-September, 25 days after the mailing of the TRIM notices.

The amount you will pay in property taxes for 2020 is directly based on the County’s opinion of Market and Assessed Value for your property.
