Palm Beach County June 1st Estimates show increases over 2019 Tax Year

According to a Palm Beach Post interview with Dorothy Jacks, the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser, Palm Beach County taxable values have increased 5.5% over the final 2019 taxable values.  She was clear to state that these are pre-pandemic values based on a valuation date of January 1, 2020. Overall, the county grew from $198 Billion to nearly $210 Billion of which, $2 Billion was added via new construction properties being added to the tax roll. Boca Raton remains the largest taxing authority with taxable value over $26 Billion, followed by Palm Beach with $19.9 Billion and West Palm Beach with $14.7 Billion. The largest increase year-over year was seen in Westlake where the taxable value increased over 104% due to new construction of new homes and commercial property. Westlake is the newest municipality in Palm Beach County and has seen massive growth over the last few years.

On July 1st, The Palm Beach County Property Appraiser will submit their final tax roll for certification by the Florida Department of Revenue. Once the certification is complete, the 2020 TRIM Notices will be sent out to the property owners in mid-August with the appeal deadline to follow in mid-September, 25 days after the mailing of the TRIM notices.

The amount you will pay in property taxes for 2020 is directly based on the County’s opinion of Market and Assessed Value for your property.
